Same all over.Idiots at the top don't understand that little operators are a big piece of their business. When they make it very difficult for average Joe's to do business with them because of distance issues...well,I've talked to several farmers who say RedandGreen are down the street so they will be doing business there instead of putting up with the inconvience forced on them by AGCO.It's a n$**!% shame!!!

Same here, local MF and Gleaner dealer died and they pulled his contract. local people would like to start it up again but Agco won't consider it, Higher ups bragged to me they have closed 350 MF dealers in the past year. local people have drive 200 miles for combine parts. Ive had to drive 70 miles for parts on my Gleaner and pay mileage when getting service that is under warranty. Tired of it. Have 5 John Deere dealerships with in 25 miles.

Just the opposite here, John Deere closed down several years ago. Agco dealer and CIH survived . I think even if the local dealer left town I would travel a good distance to keep my Gleaner going. Good luck to you folks in that area.

anyone who thinks farming is tough - you should try running a dealership. I know Dwain , fine man - CJ's group is also. As farmers get larger, dealers unit sales go down, per unit cost skyrockets and cash flow gets the hit. The little consumer aisian tractor products don't pay the bills. Just remember, when everyone only buys from the big multistore deere dealers who are really aggresive NOW (and they have a long term goal of 80% market share),and when all others are gone..... and you make the only remaining dealer a counter offer to a product you need - don't be surprised at the condensending laughter you get in the face. Competition really saves the farmer big bucks. Agco has a market plan, they have some people who actually do know what is going on - it will be interesting to see how it plays out in the future. It is a different view on their side of their table. Some things I agree with, some I do not. Finally Agco doesn't cancel full line dealers who sell the current line of wholegoods with a tractor line and pay their bills. They are super concerned with dealer succession plans. It is tough out here folks - support your local dealer if you want him there in the future.

A big AMEN to that! We are already seeing what happens when one dealer gets control of all the stores in one area, It's his way or no way, equipment, parts and service are all the same price at any of his stores. Thank goodness we have a great Agco dealer close. I don't know what I would do if he ever quit.

I am caught in the same senerio. My local Agco dealer is gone, Agco wont let anyone that has another brand sell Agco,(like the New Holland dealer in town that has the Agco_New Holland dealer 50 miles away) take them on. I have every other kind in my town 6 miles away. Makes you wander how long a guy will be before he drives another color. It isnt like orange and silver is any cheaper now then the other colors. That is why we always had them, better price and just as good. That was the good ole days I guess IG

We also have to drive quite a ways to access our Gleaner dealer. Fortunately, we haven't had to make the trip in an emergency parts situation very often. We keep common parts on hand and haven't had too many serious breakdowns. One thing we, as Gleaner people, need to consider when a nearby dealer closes and we start thinking of jumping ship - the time you save in having green_red_yellow parts nearby can be eaten up quickly in complicated repairs. Gleaners are simple machines and service is a snap compared to a lot of competing machines. The extra driving time to get silver parts can be saved by easy servicing.

although im not well known on this site i hesitate to make a few comments.my agco parts reps first question to farmers who complain to him about another dealer gone is this...what is the last thing new you bought from this dealerIJIJit is a very important question. when you bought your last new or USED combine did you buy it from this dealer or a jockey or an auction.or from another dealer 100 miles awayIJIJwithout new and used sales all dealers will dissapear.the parts issue also brings a couple issues to mind.if shoups gathering chain is 2.00 cheaper than the dealer who closed, yes on a 6 row this amounts to 24.00IJwhere did you buy themIJ if you walk into his shop and expect free advice from his mechanic or on the phone it is because shoup etc.cannot and will not provide that information..add that value to the price of the agco part!!! i see questions on here all the time IJIJwhere else besides agco can i buy that partIJ not buying from agco means not buying from the agco dealer.who certainly wont be there when you need something that the aftermarket will not provide for a few simple reasons!! not enough numbers or no profit in selling them!!! if your agco dealer is not competetive tell him...believe me we care.we try to source parts wherever possible to be competetive and have parts when you need them.. we also do combine and tractor service in the winter months and off season i no it is tough for you to spend the money but there are ways to defer the cost. when dealers dissapear it is unfortunate to us also;service calls come in from the area from farmers we have never seen before, dont see in the off season so we could keep more mechanics busy year around, and only see when the local mechanic that was trained by a dealer cant get to it..besides the dealer that is left charges by the mile and his labor rate is too high!!please support your dealer if you can, because if you dont he will be gone sooner instead of later. if you expect him to be there for you .you need to support him in the off season, when they need the work. i know what tbran is saying the grass isnt always silver on the other side of the fence.we are in a tough, low margin, changing business.yes good dealers and good farmers will survive.to all the farmers with loyalty and a business partnership with their local dealer thank you,we will work hard to deserve your business;if we dont tell us before it is too late

Well said. I buy combines and almost all parts from the AGCO dealer even though I might be able to get the parts cheaper somewhere else. If you want the dealer when you need them, you have to buy from them to stay open. My only complaint is the price variation between dealers. Call three different dealers and I almost always come up with three different prices. Haven't figured that one out.
