The 9690 is faster. The direction of rotation on the cross auger has been changed to force feed the unloader. I would think this could be retrofitted to the 8780 but I do not know for sure. I have a 8780 that I change the sprocket on the cross auger and sped it up. This helped slightly though you have to be very careful when the bin gets almost empty because the cross auger has too much vibration. You need to slow the motor down slightly or if unloading on the go just don't unload the last 5 bu.
