Get the newer model that they make that goes on the end of the auger. less weight, less leverage, less overall length. You only gain maybe 12 inches overall length, and still puts the grain 3 feet farther away from the machine. We have two of these on our 2388s, and we love them. MSRP is $525, we sell them for $450, plus shipping. US only.

I bought one from Sloan express, about $400. plus $50. shipping to sc Indiana. I called the dealer who had purchased several of these for rice harvesting. They had not had any problems with this model FT3. This extender ads only about 6 inches to the end of the auger tube but drops out the end instead of the bottom of tube. Yes it works great and is worth the money. Just be careful and not pull on the auger while installing. It comes with a new 3 bolt flange hanger bearing for the end. Farmbuddy ( from Cat)is a friend and has advised this is a good extension, don't buy the bolt in the middle kind.

Does the extender have something in the end to stop the grain dribble when you fold in augerIJ The flap from Case needs some improvement. How does it work when you are topping of a truckIJ

The case flap can be put back into the auger, we just left it out all together, it doesnt work all that well to begin with. The spout puts out a nice pattern, same design as the Claas Cat auger. Topping off is no problem. i usually cut to mid throttle to top off, and it does fine.

I work with a gentleman that has the same extension you are talking about (at the start of the auger)on two 2388's. He has run them for three years now and they work great. The new style sounds like a good deal also but do not be afraid of the model you speak of.
