We've had the same problem but no solution. I would appreciate anyone's help also!

use regular cotter pin and bend both sides around the pin. hard to do but these very rarely fail. alternative if augers are sharp update to splines. like you said you never see half pins, cotter pin coming out.

Install headed pin so that , the head of the is on grain flow side , cotter pin away from grain flow side ,

are the holes in the auger or gear box getting oblonged_worn. also, are the two augers timed properlyIJ

I had that problem for a couple yr. and after I replaced the unloading auger I haven't had a problem with it. I think when the flighting gets bad it's hard on the pins
