John, What type of chain is being used on swivelIJ Is it he old n60 chain with connecting links attached to a block toward the top of swivel when auger is in saddle or is it the forklift style chain with 3-bolt adjustment towards top of swivel when auger is in saddleIJ If it is the old style chain I would suggest changing to new style as the n60 connecting link is usually what breaks. Normally you do not need to lubricate the poly style swivel.Wouldn't hurt to put some lube in there to free it up as rust and fines can get into swivel area.Of all the poly style swivels we have installed the poly is a lot stiffer to move and we normally see the swivel set the auger closer to the combine that it will rub sheet metal shield on lH side. The auger has not hit anything prior to putting on the poly swivel has itIJ I have seen where the grain bin portion of the swivel get tweaked if bump bar or auger catches a wagon or grain cart. Hope this helps, Hyper Harvest II

An update on the swivel. Using penetrating oil and a sledge I have gotten the swivel to rotate. Also enlarged the space that is designed to vent dust and dug out rust particles as I forced the swivel to rotate. I am now going to drill and tap some holes for zerk fittings so I can force grease or oil into the swivel. I'll take my chances with dust buildup. The manufacturer could not offer any advice. I can't believe that others have not had this problem. The combine only sits out when it is away from the home farm during harvest. John

It has the 3-bolt adjustment toward the top. The chain is conventional n60 chain; I'll check into forklift style chain which I have not heard of. I have not hit anything with the auger since I purchased this swivel; learned that the hard way when I first got the combine and tried to take out a small tree beside the lane. With this swivel, it normally just touches the left side. This time it was further in and it looks like the inner ring with the studs welded to it has been bent so the studs tilt toward the outside a little near the bottom of the ring. Thanks for your response. John

John, Glad to hear that you got it to move. Grease zerk will not hurt a thing. Strange that it did bind up as you described. One of the first poly swivels that we installed on a customers machine is probably 15 yrs. old and with no maintenance. It's worn through two tubes, reflighted augers twice, two bin floor inserts and the the portion of the swivel that is attached to the grain bin has had a 3_16" half moon insert installed. Hate to guess how many hundreds of thousands of bushels have been through this grain bin.(6250+ eng. hrs and 4800+ sep. hrs.)

I had a similar problem on an M3. I had to vacuum out the inside of the swivel and then soak it with a high end penetrating oil to get it loosened up. after that I always would oil it before and after each crop.
