I'm not sure I can tell much difference in performance (assuming your cable is working correctly). However, it does seem to be a much tougher setup for the pot. The pot shaft is now well supported and of course the lack of a cable to break or sieze up is a good thing. I've put one of the kits on a 1020 and one on a JD 853 row head. Both worked real nice, but the old style worked just fine also. Mike
