Welcome , The TR-96 is a very good combine as I had a 1992 model. Mine had a Ford motor in it, but I also had a 1982 TR-95 that had a Cat engine in it. I had no problems with the cat so I would think it would be OK but you could get a oil sample on it from a cat dealer or big truck dealer. I'm not sure what rotor's the early 96's had in them but I think if you measure the feeder house width it may tell. The 95 I had was 55" wide and later 96 was about 41" wide. The smaller feeder was better, gave less trouble feeding the rotors and the feeder chain worked better as it was not as heavy. At 2300 hrs the rotors and concave may need some work on them. We rebuilt our TR-95 at about the same hrs. It is not to hard to rebuild it but does take some time and money(I think about $4-5000.00) You can't really see the rotors unless the feeder house is pulled off. But I would look as good as I could at the concave and rotors from the side doors for any problems. The bubble up auger may need replacing, but that is no big deal as you can reflight it or replace it. The capacity would compare to a 8820 or 9600 JD. The new holland 971_973 heads are very good heads and will do as good a job as anyones. I don't know how it would combine your crops as I live in SW Il and combine corn, soybeans and SRW. I would ask NH dealer for 25 or 50 hrs of warranty on parts. You will like the New Holland combine and I wish you the very best. If there is any other things I can help , ask.

I think the TR96 will be an excellent combine in barley and canola. The rotary combines really seem to shine in those particular crops. The 3208 in our 1500 just keeps on running. It always starts first crank, no ether after sitting all winter and runs so smooth. I think they are a really good engine, but with the turbo on the TR96, the engine would be under more stress so that is something to consider

Thank you very much gentlemen. I have looked over the combine and it looks good plus the dealer tells me the entire machine was gone over from top to bottom when they took it in. Only time will tellIJIJ hehe Thanks again;
