Combines Urgent request on Chaff spreader

I no-till just about all my crops and I feel the standard chaff spreader with fins does a very adequate job. I run a 25' header. The chaff gets spread a good 15' wide or more. I'm not sure that the hydraulic spreader is necessary. If it is needed later, can it be easily added onIJ

My understanding is only if you have the hydraulic straw spreader . I imagine it is quite pricey. Does the 15 feet spread it quite evenly or is it heavier in the centre. That video certainly did not look right to me. Thank You

Got an R-62 and the standard chaff spreader does an excellent job,as good or better than most hydralic spreaders.

Got an R-62 and made extended oversized fins to replace the outside 2 on each side. They work suprisingly well, shooting chaff straight sidways behind the tires. I also no-till and considered the hydraulic spreader. This makes use of the incredible air blast already there.

We had a N7 last year and in Canola anyhow spread not so good, the light stuff gets out there pretty good but we like the seed back out full width, don't think those fins are going to get that chaff out there like a hydraulic spreader, if you have seen one work before or are used to one.

The chaff gets spread pretty evenly. I have the fins adjusted out to the maximum on the slots.

We have the fins on our R70 and I don't think it does well at all spreading beans. An interesting thing told to me by our Gleaner dealer when asking about a Vittetoe-type spreader he said that with all the air being blown back there you'd still need something to knock the chaff down as with a Gleaner rotary it would just blow it over the spinner type chaff spreaders, but yet I see they are an option on the R65_R75. I'm still waiting to see an N or R series with a spinner type chaff spreader as I'd like to see how exactly they fix this.

I too direct seed and have to agree. The oversized fins work well. They need to be longer and deeper. You can then take the length and create a flip to get a little extra lift. This will blow chaff into uncut grain with a 25 head.

Thanks to all who responded! I ordered my R65 today with the standard spreader and will have to adjust if not satisfactory! This is my first Gleaner after several red (axial flow) so it will be interesting and I am looking forward to the wheat (spring wheat) harvest. This board is very informative and maybe someday I will be able to contribute after I operate the combine.
