We had an early 1996 Afs. They changed a chip shortly after it came out. I do not know if the chip corrected any Y2K problems or not. All moniters were supposed to be updated.

I have the same problem. The chip in my moniter is the v6.02c. My dealer told me that people that were combining before Aug 1 were still able to make maps but I didnt start till after that date. My data went into 96 like yours and I wasnt able to make any maps. Apparently they have chip coming soon that will take care of this problem. It should not be more than 20-30 dollars.

The chip needed to solve the problem is V 6.02 A-C, which when installed will be able to be viewed on the first screen when booting up the monitor. I don't think you NEED to have it because I think it is only the last two digits that are stamped on the software. So 2000 would be viewed as "00" and 100 would be viewed as "00".

I had an AFS customer complain of the same problem recently. The new version chip is the way to fix the problems. Here in Canada our parts department got a V6.02 multilanguage update chip set. Be careful you do not install the wrong language chip into your machine. We installed the Spanish chip before noticing an "S" at the end of the version number on the front of the chip. S = Spanish, G = German, F = French, no letter = English.
