Put a cummins in it wouldnt cost a hole lot more then that Hunleys has a conversion for the Gleaner to convert them to cummins.

Keep us posted on the details as they unfold. I have a V8 Deutz and am always interested in learning what to watch for as I am with all engines around here. The muffler is a possibility but if I had to guess what did it I would say it was a lack of cooling. Maybe an air baffle wasnt reinstalled properly. Tom in MN

Tom, I'll let you know. My first thought was insufficient cooling. Or maybe over fueling due to bad injector. Owner suggested plugged muffler, he says it used to happen in the "Yellow Fellow" combine powered by Deutz 6 cylinder. He is doing the pump and injectors. I often wonder why Deutz doesn't monitor the temp on each head on these engines.

BEEN HAVING HEAD TEMP lIGHTS COME ON MY R62 EVERY SO OFTEN COME TO FIND OUT THAT I HAD 4 BAD INJECTORS AND THE OTHER 4 AT 1000 PSI UNDER WHERE THEY SHOUlD BE. PlUS 5 INTAKE VAlVES THAT WERE OUT OF ADJUSTMENT OR NO ClEARANCE OR POSSIBlY OPEN, ONE WAS WHERE THE HEAD TEMP SENDER WAS, GOOD REASON FOR THE lIGHT TO COME ON. THE PUMP WAS FINE. DYNOED BEFORE AND HAD 225 HP AT THE SHAFT AND 260 HP AFTER. TEllS ME WE NEED TO ADJUST VAlVES AND CHECK INJ. MORE OFTEN.

Very true statement! I have 2 AC 8000 series tractors with 426cid(670I) that due to poor previous owner maintenance were fresh out of Overhaul at around 6000 hr. Both had bad nozzles and caused piston and sleeve problems. The other problems that have come about around here with the Deutz engine is lack of cleanliness. Plugged cooling system on the combines only(tractors are OK). Good statement is "He who doesn't maintain, pays in 1 form or another!"

Are those heads all tapped for sensorIJ How much to sensor each oneIJ Heard to watch valve clearance. Warm it up ,let it cool down. Check injectors. Watch whole cooling system. Alloy fan blades wear ie;not enough air to back cyl's. Grunty motor though and always fun for new fella's to find radiator cap.

Well, i had the same trouble in a 6 in line deutz engine. I happened at 2 pm and at 8 pm i harvest again. The mechanic say that a it was caused by a broken injector. a part of the injector falls in the cilinder. We put in it a used cilinder heat and we harvest again after 6 hours of work. How many time cost to repair a watter cooled engine IJ My neighbor had a Deutz 1620H combine with a F8l413 engine and he sold that combine two years ago with 15000 hours on it without any problem in the engine. My have 12000 hours and usually work near the red sector on the temp gauge and never have a problem on it. This engines only need fuel, oil and fresh air. I blow the cilinder every day i work.

Was the injector tip loose or did it breakIJ Can you do anything to prevent this from happening againIJ My combine has an F8l513 engine that has been completely trouble free. I would definitely buy another Deutz engine. Tom in MN

This was happened on my old combine, a Fahr M1000 with a F6l912. yes it was the injector tip loose. I don't know what happened. Now i have a Fahr 2680 with a F6l913 and i never had a problem on it. I blow the cilinders every day and change oil every 250 hours. I use a 15W40 mineral oil with some Wynn's For Oil additive and this engine have 12000 hours. If you want to buy another Deutz maybe you can't buy another air-cooled. The new series of Deutz-Fahr combines are air cooled from 150 to 260 hp range, with the 912-913 series and the "big" combines are powered by the water cooled engines BF6M1013, 6 in line and BF6M1015 6 in V. I think Deutz will stop the production of the 413_513 and 912_913 series. I don't know what will happen with the 413_513 but Deutz will substitute the 912_913 series for the new 914.

Camshaft, it sounds like a problem with crankcase vent. Block has positive ventelation and it sounds like this may be the problem. the valve goes bad and engine sends a lot of oil to cylinders.that sounds high for parts. Call Richard at Gier diesel in Dodge City Kansas and ask him about parts. One thing for sure when rebulding all measurment are critical, most important crown clearance. Yes injectors and pump are often a problem, be sure and have a good shop repair them. Cooling is still a posibility. Most fans dont last as long as they should and most people dont realize when they are worn out. when the square leading edge is rounded or when the trailing edge gets sharp it is time to start plannin on replacing the fan.The other very important thing is the air cleaner. almost all v8's i have to overhaul have plugged asperators. Wash that out really well. get rid of the metal asp hoses and replace with asp hoses......good luck vstk
