Kent, don't know where your at, that tends to make a little difference, but I'm guessing the dealer is asking $155,000 for his combine and is allowing you about $90,000 for yours. K.A.

Kent, I was just wondering, was I even close to what the dealer was asking to tradeIJ I traded two 97 2188s for two 2000 2388s back in late July. My 2188s had just over 2000 rotor hrs. The 2388s that I traded for had just 150 hrs so I improved myself considerably. My trade cost me about $40.50 per hr. I talked to some of my harvester friends who wanted to trade after runing just one year and putting on around 500 hrs. They were talking about $80.00 per hr. to trade. Combines are expensive! K.A.

Here is what I can tell you. I did some looking on machinefinder.com, and some comparable machines like the two you mention are as follows... 1998 2388 1087_904 hrs., Duals and RWD $88,000 1998 2388 1732_1464 hrs., Duals and RWD $87,500 2001 2388 320hrs 30.5s and RWD $127,500. Your combine has higher hours on it than most 2388s out there, but that does not mean it is worthless. Personally, I think you should be able to trade for $50,000 or thereabouts. Your combine is another season older than the ones I have listed above, so factor in another $10K off of those prices and that is what your machine would retail for. Heck, while you are thinking about spending money, maybe you should get a price on a used Deere. Oh, sorry, I am in the wrong forum to say that. Good luck. Gilly (Matt Gilsinger)

I might entertain that notion on the green machine if "Stormin Norman" don't work with me a little closer. Tell Dave to get busy and quit watching the ND games on T.V. Thought you were at N.D. yourselfIJIJIJIJ My machine is a 1998 not a 97. The 2188's were from 1995-1997. 2388's are made from 1998 til present. GO IRISH!! KENT

Have you figured a cost per acre runIJ Ours is $9.63 (or $69._hr.) to trade both heads w_'98 2388 for a new 2002 model with same equip.Field tracker will likely save at least one bushel of beans per acre so figure that in alsur local dealers figure $90._eng hr. for 1 yr. You may buy new a little cheaper per acre.Get a chain oiler.

I will get in touch with my dad and Dave immediately. I don't know what kind of deals they have going, but I will make sure that Dave is aware of your slight interest. As for me, yes I am in school. I want to keep in touch with the people and industry that got me here, so I read forums like this one to see what is going on. I appreciate your post. Thanks. Email me with any other specific questions or concerns, or send an email to sales@gilsinger.com if you want to talk to my dad and Dave. Gilly
