Yes, this is the slowest position setting. It will also cause you to tear up trash more than should be required and add more load to the shoe than necessary.
We set the vanes in the middle position for soys and retarded for corn. We found less cob breakage and so a cleaner sample with gordon bars. If you are cracking corn perhaps your rotor speed is too high or your concave needs to be opened up a little.
