We have had the TX combines here since about 1990, I think. We had the TX 36 and the 66 and 68 since '94. Of course we had the old 900 series 975 --995 and the 1400 and 1500 combines, but the there are much more of the TR combines here.

I have seen quite a few TX combines in Canada and almost none in the U S. I assume that Greg is posting from Canada. I've seen some TX advertised in the North Dakota_Minnesota area where their conditions are similar to Manitoba which is directly north in Canada. Some machinery marketed in Canada is not always found in the U S. An Alberta MF partsman told me that they sold alot of Claas_Massey's in their area because the cattlemen baled the straw and liked the quality of the walker machine. In my area farmers prefer the grain quality of the rotary. Few grain farmers in the U S have the straw conditions like in Europe and corn (maize) is the probably the most harvested crop here. This may be some of the reason for not wanting walkers. There was at least one TX in the West which was trialed on the steep Palouse hills and one, I think, tried in California rice . I doubt these were offered for sale in those areas. New Holland was the first to come out with the rotary in the TR in about 1976 and I think that's the only type of combine they sold here after early 80's until TX's were offered in Canada. I doubt that most Americans are aware of most of the models you mentioned unless they've followed European machinery before the internet boom.

I only saw one New Holland conventional combine up here in northeast Wisconsin and that machine was from the 1970's. We bale alot of straw in this area, however, almost everyone has John Deere conventionals. Maybe a couple New Holland rotaries in the area.

As far as I know after the release of the WTS they arent going to stop production on walkers. I have customers that will not hire those running rotor combines.

I thought that I read where they have already stopped walker production in the United States and the walker will continue to be available here but they will be imported and not made domestically. Probably better machines than the sloppy union crew is building in this country. We are having major problems with a pair of 9750s so I am about ready for an import machine.

I was just looking at the JD website and the only walker machine available is the small grain machine with not to many options available. Just curious as to what it will cost to ship the machine hare from Germany, I think that is where it is being built. I switched to 9660sts' this season and never had a minute of downtime. I would like to thank the crew at JD for giving me a trouble free harvest, put over 500 sep hrs on the machines. Thanks JD!!!

Congratulations, sounds like you had a great year but wait till you get over 1000 hours and then see if you have an excessive amount of down time, especially with electronics. many of the new ones are doing great for a few hours but become nightmares at around 1000 hours. Just my experience and observations around here.

A friend of mine has 3 04 9660's with over 1400 hrs on each and has had nothing go wrong with electronics or anything else major other than the rear wheel assists and they are 5 yrs old. All you ever here about on here is all the bad luck people have, I'm just letting it be known that some of us have pretty good luck with the same products that are nightmares for others. I think alot of 50 series sts owners were doing research and engineering for the 60 series sts just like the 8010 owners are today!
