The gearbox reverses the direction of shaft rotation so the walkers are turning the right direction, and material will "walk" up them.

To complicated and doesn't look as pretty for engineers!

I had to replace that big pulley on the straw walker gearcase and its' drive belt on my 9610 this fall at about 1300 hrs. Pulley just cracked apart and ate the belt. My previous 9500 had made 3300 hrs and no problems in that area.
