I would guess the machine with the most HP would be the logical choice, but several of these machines are in the same HP range. This assumes the operator can configure and set each machine equally well. I wouldn't put much stock into the results of Husker Harvest days or a random group of operators in the same field. Combine performance is too heavily influenced by operator bias (how they set the machine). I would think that capacity in a walker machine would be a secondary consideration at best.

QUESTION: No one machine is better in all conditionsIJ ANSWER: No one machine is better in all conditions!! Capacity, Thruput, Gentle crop handling, More power, less damage. All words used by all salesmen of any brand. like farm kid2 says, the operater makes more difference than anything. Now days all brands are owned by two or three main parent companies so you cant really expect IH to out do New Holland too far, or viseversa. Rite now we see a lot of patent and technology sharing between brands of same parent company, and several aftermarket companies producing modifications to fit just about any machine in any crop. Around here there are only John Deere and Case IH brands. The only reson is because we only have John Deere and Case IH dealers close by.

I have a 2388 Dad has a 9500 we run together all the time 30' on 23 24' on the 9500 the 2388 is alot bigger so its not a real compare but with the header setup this way the do run close although the 23 still outdoes it I will admit though there are some thing I do like on the 9500 over the 23 but the biggest difference is ability to bale straw behind it is better out of the walker machine as for soybeans you cant beat the spec rotor unless you have the afx it is so smooth going through as opposed to straight cyl.
