yes you are right, I understand that part, i dont know of any adapters but I think there must be some around, my 8780 throat hookups were completly different also, 8780 drives on the bottom of throat also--- I cut shafts about 12 inches in from the sprockets and put a holder there with a bearing and then put a PTO drive shaft from the drive on bottom of machine throat to the end of the header drive shaft that I cut, the 1183 head where the 860 hooked to at the top of the throat had what looked like a hook where it lifted head from-- I took those off and cut into that beam as much as I needed to and made a shoulder on there that would match the style that is on the 8780, all the hook ups on 8780 are completly different from 860 also, I just decided I would try to make it work and a blacksmith friend helped me on it, he had some good ideas and we made it work and I have seen just about every color combine with 1100 series massey corn heads on them, however you need to do what works for your situation.
