Thanks for the reply kidroff. Our 9750 is equipped with 20.8 x 42 duals so we would like to stay at least as wide as an 8 row unit. I guess another option for us would be to use a straight cut header with a pan kit installed on it although I am not sure how that would perform compared to an all crop header in sunflowers.

Pans will work remarkably well in sunflowers, and you will definitely appreciate the 30 ft swath you will be taking. One of the best ways that pans work is to cut the field at a slight angle, 50 or 60 degrees, or however steep that you can take going over the ridges. One guy I know put used ball bearings on the tips of his pans so when a stalk hit the tip directly, it would roll off to either side instead of being pushed over. Good luck Kin

Can anyone comment on how the STS combines perform in sunflowers say compared to a 9600IJ Any changes or special settings requiredIJ With a 30 ft header with pans would I run into hopper capacity problems in a field that is yeilding decentlyIJ Can you harvest as low to the ground with a header and pans compared to an all crop headerIJ Thanks in advance guys.
