My mother lives in the tri-cities, and we went back to see here two years ago. We were there July 3 through 10 and were about two weeks early from what she said.

Harvest varies considerably from one area to another. Along the Idaho Washington border, wheat harvest is going pretty good or getting a good start about mid August The third week of August is usually very busy weather permitting. Dry pea harvest is a little earlier. It really varies by year and there are so many microclimates. In lower country like around Ritzville, Washington or closer to the Columbia River, it is alot earlier and I'm not sure when probably in July. Maybe you could contact a dealer in the area using dealer locator. The steeper land is south of Spokane especially from north of Colfax going toward lewiston, Idaho. The highway through Washington will show more wheatland. The Idaho road 95 is more scenic being close to mountains but flatter farmland until by Moscow, Idaho area. Also, the more southern route through Pomeroy and,Dayton to Walla, WA is more canyon like with very long steep hills. Most of that area is earlier harvest than farther east.

I live in the Sprague, WA area. Ritzville starts the 20th of July or so, Sprague about 27th of July, lamont around August 1. As others said, head east and harvest usually is about 1 to 2weeks later starting. You might want to keep an eye on the weather, as I have seen harvest start a week or two early if it gets hot and dry. So far this year, we are cold and wet.
