Brodale, What kind of breakdowns did you have with itIJ I have two 03 2388s with similar hours.

What has the machine been harvesting and whereIJ Has it been taking in a lot of dirt harvesting things with a flex header on the ground. Also some soils and crops are much more abrasive than others and that rotor really is like a big vacuum cleaner. Harvesting peas and lentils in the PNW really wears out theshing parts fast if they are not hard chrome.

I agree, you should really find out the true history of this machine, it sounds like it could have harvested rice to me.

Brodale, if your machine has the curved metal straw spredder bats, yes the gears will need to be repaced at those hours. Those bats take a lot of power. I need to replace those gears in both of my machines this winter. I had to replace that idler pully that engages the feeder on one of my machines at less than 500 hours. They must have had a run of bad ones. I had to replace the five band seperator belt on one this fall cutting beans and the other one will be replaced this winter. The machine that I cut most of the corn with, will need a new incline auger this winter. One or two failed bearings I wouldn't be too concerned about. When I was cleaning up my machines yeasterday I noticed on one, the bearing up on the clean grain elevator is completely gone. My machines cut about 60% wheat and the rest corn and soybeans. I always say the 40% time in corn and beans are harder on them than the 60% time in wheat.

Brodale, you posted below that you bought this 2388 in the US. From previous post that I had with you I recalled you saying that you farmed in SouthWestern Ont. Well we also farm in the Great White North and I'm wanting to go down to Birkeys and look at some low houred '03_2388 but my question is besides GST what are the brokerage charges on importing a used combineIJ How was your overall exsperiance dealing with the large $$$$$ so far from homeIJ Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks Brodale, cause I was led to believe that the brokerage fees was going to cost me thousands of dollars. Maybe it was just my dealer that was trying to instill some fear in me and hope that I would settle for what he has on his lot. i.e 97,98-2188 with 1950 sep. hrs. I would like to go with a 03_04 model 2388 with an afx rotor. I just can't justify that $260,000 for a new machine. As for your question Birkeys is a 10 store dealer located in Il. You might want to try them for a flexdraper for your 2388 just check out there web site at Birkey's.com. I work for a local equipment manufacture, when not farming and they use Dykstra for all equipment shipped to the US. Thanks for now!!
