no, you need to 1. either reverse or replace chopper knives and make sure it is on the small chopper pulley. 2. lower your cylinder to 3_8 clearance as measured between cyl. bars and concave bar in rear door. Make sure both sides are level. Then set your index gauges correctly. 3. Adjust your stripper plates per op man where the rear opening is 1_8 to 1_4 wider then the front.

there is also a shield just above chopper on back of combine that may need to be removed in green stemmed beans

like corey said be sure the plate on top of the chopper is out and be sure the curtain is up behind front beater check your manual for setup had a l-2 with eager bars in it ( everyother bar cut out ) and a modified concave from st,Johns what a crop eating machine you just need to get it adjusted right is your corn head a black head or orange, black is a lot better head. hope I helped not near as smart as some of these guys here but had a l-2 and they do cut!!

yes, this is a corn plus, however if the cyl is beating up the bean stem well enuff we have been able to leave them in, if they are still in. Also there is a curtain that MUST be removed if it is still in as well. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the help guys I see that i do have a curtain in the back and I have a plate back there too. I will remove these and see what happens. I am still concerned about the stripper plates as they are wider in the back than in the front by 3_8 of an inch. Maybe the whole gap is too wide for my earsIJ I can't wait to get some weather to try the machine again. I am inpressed with the loyalty toward these combines.
