Thats terrible l3, its one reason why I didnt want to even look at duetz power plant in the used machine we bought. Its not that they arent good engines. Its just thats something like a bearing in a fan drive wouldnt effect the cummins like it does the duetz. We have an air cooled tractor and love it, also had an R70 with a duetz and loved it also. Combines are in so much dirt and dust all the time I just dont really want a duetz engine because if and when something happens it will be more expensive than the cummins and I think harder to find parts or get it overhauled quickly.

I'm cosidering repowering. Did some searching on this topic, but it looks like it's been a while since it was discussed. I'd appriciate any new ideas or comments.

There is a guy on hear that repowered one with a cat engine. Can't remeber his name.

l3, I have a '96 R62 with a Cummins that was involved in a rollover accident..the combine basically needs some sheet metal (bin etc.) you could either move the Cummins to your combine or use parts from your R62 to fix the '96. Post your email address if you are interested.
