Combines what do you all think of this

More or less the same thing was tried with the very popular l3 Gleaner when Gleaner stopped making conventional combines and went exclusively to rotaries. An l4 Gleaner was made in Mexico for a year or two. There were a few imported to the U.S. There was one that sat on a dealers lot here locally for almost two years. I never heard if it was ever sold or if it was shipped back where it came from. One think I know the l4 Gleaner never got off the ground like everybody thought it would even though it sold for a little less money than the l3 sold for. I'm afraid the same thing would happen to a new 1600 series CIH combine.

Something more in line with reality would be to take a late 14 or any 16 series that isn't totally junked out and invest 10-15 thousand in a total restoration. This would only make sense in a smaller operation that plans on keeping the machine around for many years. May not make sense to bigger operations that have the cash flow for the new big stuff, but would be 10's of thousands less for the small guys that are still out there.
