That is a question that is hard to answer. I just traded in a 96 8570 w_25' flex on an 8780XP w_25'flex and air reel. I know what they gave me on paper for the trade and have a neighbor who is considering buying the machine from the dealer. I think the dealer would take $65K for the combine. You must realize that I just did a major rework of the machine in their shop last year before harvest so it is in excellent condition. Has chaff spreader that may or may not go with the machine. I think you could find one on an auction sale around here (Eastern ND or NW Minn) for $50K. It seems you know the machine you are looking at and that is worth some dollars to you if you know the condition and prior owners service and maintance agenda for the machine. The dealer I work with told me he is finding it very difficult to get anymore that $5k for some excellent low hour 860's he has. Don't know why as I traded an 860 when I got my 8570 and would certianly consider a good low hr 860 as a second machine for my operation. Currently I am only looking to run one machine and hire custom if need extra harvesting help. If you make the trade I know you will not be disapointed. I really questioned the trade when I did it three years ago but have had zero down time with the 8570 in the past three years. I feel it is a very good machine with more capacity than the 860 and a few more creature comforts. Definately a lot easier on the ears at the end of the day with the motor in the rear. Good luck in your decision making. If you have any questionsa e-mail me at jmcs@nbinternet.com

8570 w_about 2200 hours sold at auction in Dike, Ia a couple of weeks ago for 24000 bucks. So 50K might be a little high. You may have gotten a great steal of a deal on your 8780.
