Cab obviously and resale. The 8000 series up here in MI tend to bring way better money than the 7000's even the late ones are usually under 9,000$ while the 8000's are typically above 15,000$. Mechanically I don't know what the differences are if any.

Most of the major changes where in hydraulics, and as mentioned the cab,and of course the AMBAC injection pump for fuel economy. There are some minor changes in valving in power shift but basicly the same under carriage from front to back. Depends on your finances but I would seriously look at the 8000 series mainly for comfort and resale value. My 2 cents, Hyper Harvest II

I had a 78' 7060PD and now own a 8030PS. Two things stick out in my mind n1) Much larger cab in the 8000 series and n2)Ease of getting at stuff to repair and or trouble shoot. like HyperII says, base machines are almost identical but the 8000 series is more user friendly. It appears to me that the AC engineers really did their homework and listened to the farmers and mechanics when they designed the 8000 series. Too bad AC went belly up 'cause the 8000 series would have kicked some series butt had AC survived. It really boils down to what you are looking for. If you want raw horsepower with a little less creature comfort then the 7000 series is the better value. If resale and creature comfort is important I would spend the extra and go with the 8000 series. JMHO, Pete Hinrichsen

Most of the changes in the hyd. system are in the remote valves themselves. These changes were mainly to aid in operating hyd. motors. On older 7000 series you had to screw detent in remote valve in to hold lever in position and then you still had a chance of overheating oil. On the 8000 series the remote valves were changed to better accomodate running hyd. motors.Pressure and flow compensated pump system is still the same with easier compensator adjustment being made external and eliminating steel lines and the use of rubber hoses and routing made for less noise and less clutter.
