Finally getting some good posts on this site. I heard Cat introduced the 470 at the Amana show last fall- did they field demo it thereIJ Since the 480 and 460 share most of the same design (except rotors vs. walkers),am I right in assuming the 470 shares the same with the 450IJ The 470 should be very similar to the Deere 9650 CTS in size, horsepower and price.

The 470 has the same rotors as a 480, the entire machine is just more narrow. The broshures say that they have two different rotor lengths but that is not true anymore. They use to make two rotor lengths, a short rotor and a long rotor. Now they only make one rotor length and it goes into all of the machines. You are right on the HP though, the 470 is 290 and the 480 is 365. Both machines are very good. They perform very well in many different crops and the capacity and ease of setting are unmatched.
