Combines what s the verdict on the AFXIJ

Brad, I have two 02 2388 with AFX rotors. I think in 40 to 50 bu. wheat and 200 bu corn they gave me 15 to 20% more capacity and there was always an excelent sample and nothing out the back. In 65 to 80 bu. green stem soybeans the sample was still excelent but I accually believe that the standard rotors I was running last year in my 2000 2388s had more capacity. K.A.

I put a AFX into my 2188 this summer. Now I can run side by side with my 9750 in a 30 foot swathed wheat crop yielding 70 bus. We checked for loss at 6 mph and all was good. I gained more than 20% in wheat with way less fuel.

Redgreen-What did it cost you to put the AFX in your 2188 by the time things were said and done and you were ready to go to the fieldIJIJ

I was told by someone who sells lots of IH combine hop up parts that the standard rotor is best for combining corn. It sounds like the AFX, like the speciality or Rochelle are superior in green stem beans and wheat, but probably similar in corn. my 2 cents, Pat

The cost to do the change was $8,000.00 Canadian. That gives you the new AFX rotor and new deeper vanes for the transition cone. We did the work ourselves.

I installed AFX in 2188 had 1900hrs rotor off season cost 4500.00 ext ware cage 1200.00 ext ware cone with ext ware vanes 1500.00 did work in our shop photos on farmphoto.com under organ transplant

My mech. tells me that the AFX does run smoother,but since there is no rumble when the rotor is getting overloaded,you have to monitor engine RPM's more closely.Also you are not aware of how much strain you are putting on the drive system until the rotor belt snaps.
