Combines What s was this on the Clean grain elev

Hello WI, The box you were looking at is for the testing the moisture of the grain....Here's how it works. There is two holes cut in the elevator. One on the up side of the elevator, this allows grain to fill a cavity and there is a stainless steel plate in that cavity to take a reading of moisture. As the cavity fills there is a proximity switch that tells the small motor to rotate an incline auger. The second hole in the clean elev. is to allow the sample to be returned to go down and around an into the grain tank. You may have noticed there are 2 pins at the bottom that can be removed to cleanout this auger. This unit is your best way of getting the most accurate readings on moisture.... Hope this helps. That's exactly it. We figured a cleanout of some sort, and I was pretty sure it was the newer style sensor (My friend is an older Deere man),but I just couldn't get the purpose of the motor. Alot more complicated than my wedge sensor that I have in the incline auger of my 1680, but probably doesnot get the buldup the knife sensor gets

It is still the same sensor but the sampling is much improved. The contact pressure of the grain flowing across the sensor is much more consistant. There is a lot less problems with buildup of leaves, stems, and plant juice. By not having to cut out the flighting of the vertical incline to clear the sensor, the auger doesn't wear as bad and the grain is probably not damaged as much.
