Check your gearboxes and not just fluid levels with the dipsticks. Drain some oil out or stick something in them to touch the bottoms of the gearcases. Reason being the tarry mud crap sticks to the bottom and will fool you when you see clean fluid on the dipsticks. Had the bubble up auger gearcase and the gearcase off the engine pull these nasties on us this year. Suspect older machines have not had regular gearcase oil changes. Check your walker cranks to be sure they are the hardened ones. Check wear on the shoe supply augers on the upper end. Deere makes a kit to replace the wood blocks they ride in with bearings. I been through 2 of these older machines this year and have them running with good success. Parts thru Deere can get high but there are good jobber parts out there at a more reasonable cost.
