Combines What type of tow chain cable do you useIJ

A stretch rope is the best. We ordered a 60' by 6" doubled which has a rating of 120,000lbs. It has no hooks, just loops. We use a clevis on the pulling tractor and have an old military tank chain that wraps around both front axles of the combine and stays there. We used it a bunch one year before giving up and getting a lexion on tracks to finish.

Had an uncle who farmed in a swampy area. He kept a pair of cables attached to the FRONT load carrying members to the back of his machine in case he got stuck. Pulling from the rear axle is asking for trouble. Easiest to pull on tire out, then the other rather than pulling straight back. I don't remember for sure but it seems like they were about 1_2" cables - used on an M3 w_RWA. Sorry about your jeans - but a bad day running a Gleaner is better than a good day doing just about anything else! Good luck, Tom langan PS: Get some pics!

I would use a cable. You dont have to worry about them breaking and flying up and killing someone.

Dont get stuck to often ground is wet here kinda swampy. Run 30.5 32 rice in front and 16.9 26 on back. Sinking in about half way to knees now going to be a long fall

Put the chain around the axle pivot tube inside the rear frame, loop the chain around twice through the rope and around pivot tube (back that tractor up against the combine and go like crazy when you come to end of rope combine is out).And forthe dirty jeans,I thought that was part of runnig gleaner combines.

i was opening a field of corn one night, and coming to the end i started to raise the head, but it wasn't coming up, i didn't relize at the time that the combine was sinking as fast as the head was coming up...opps!! not being able to pul it out that night we waited til morning...(mista- ke) it sunk about 6 more feet over night, 2 mack wreckers, a tractor_loader, and my big tractor, bridge planks, and lots of chains, we finally got it out. the unloading auger was to low to unload into a pickup box, when getting out of the cab, i had to step up to the ground. we unloaded into the loader, dumping grain into wagons, we dug down with the loader and planked under the tires, and still sprung the combine, we tried to be soooo careful but it didn't help. we ran the chains under the rear axle up to the front axle, putting 4x4's between the frame and 4x4's. all we could do was use that combine for a parts machine after i bought another just like it!
