I will give you a few answers. I like two rotors side by side because you can have a wider feeder to feed them. The crop is not bunched up to the center, it is split two ways and a thinner crop mat is easier to separate. The rotors width are the same as the feeder. This means straightline feeding and that means less power to run and less crop damage because you don't need a beater before the rotors. Two smaller rotors mean more centrifugal force to separate the crop and has more speed to move the straw out the combine. That means less plugs and it really gets the straw out of the combine fast. More grain on grain threshing also and better quality grain. Also with the two counter rotating rotors spinning it is very hard to rope green stem stuff. You will also use more of the sieve area because the grain is spun from the center to the out side both ways, and even grain mat going over the seives means a cleaner sample. Very efficient. Hope this helps someIJ Be glad to answer anything else. Ilnewholland

You sound very well versed with the yellow units ilnewholland, can you compare reliability from a tr86 vs a 1680IJ and also wich will run later in the day "tuff wheat" I have always run red,but I have an excellent local dealer with many tr86's and tr96's for decent prices, and great suport.

We have had New Holland sense 1977, with our first TR70. Had Oliver's before that. Not sure I can compare the combines fair for youIJ My cousin had a IH 1460 when we had our TR70 and then TR95 so we did some side by side sometimes. I could stay out there as late as he could. I think any combine can go good if it gets tuff if the head is still feeding good. The newer the head the better. My 73c head now is a ten times better feeding head than my 972 was on the TR95. A New Holland combine is very reliable if it is tooken care of. Grease it and don't run rocks thur it and it will last a long time. I do think a TR is stronger built than a IH, seems to last a little longer thereIJ If you have a good dealer and can buy one for a good price you would not go wrong. You would need the TR96 size to compare to a 1680. A TR86 would compare to a 1660. Good luck, Ilnh
