Grainman They have been getting around 8% moisture readings on the corn here in kansas. Your right..it's hard to harvest...the stalks shatter the minute the head touches them and it grinds the corn because they can't get the cylinder speed slow enough. Alot of the fellow's have been going out in the wee hours of the morning when there's a bit of toughness of the night to harvest but even then it's still dry. There are alot of fields of corn right now that's standing still and guys are just waiting for a rain of any sorts to keep things from just disenagrating when the combine hits it. Might be the difference between irrigated and dryland as well....not hardly to no irrigation in my neck of the woods and the very best I heard of for a yield this year was 75 bpa. I don't raise any myself (corn is still not adapted for this land I still stand strong feeling) but my good friend does and this is what he's imformed me. Take care

Our farm is 1200 acres and a 7720 gets it all off on time every year. But we have barley, wheat, edible beans, soybeans, corn, and sunflowers. The harvest sure gets spread out, from the end of July to end of October.
