Rice is grown mainly in Eastern Arkansas and Western Mississippi and on down through south louisanna in the delta country. They have started cutting as far north as southern Arkansas. about 3_4 done in southern louisanna. Yields are good and quality is high so far. Much of the Arkansas and north west Mississippi crop is still green and wont be ready for two to three weeks. Hope this helps. Dont know much about Memphis but assume that rice is grown there also.

Rice is also grown in northern California in the Sacramento river valley area.

Don't forget SE Texas. Texas used to grow over 500,000 acres when I first started farming rice in the early '80's. Now we struggle to maintain 200K. Florida also has a little dab of rice.

Yes, Hank rice is grow very near Memphis TN. If you get on Interstate 40 and head east over the Mississippi River into Arkansas you will see rice fields along the interstate. In about another week (some even now) you should be able to see rice being harvested right next to the interstate. When you say Memphis and Beale street you are merely a stone's throw away form RICElAND. You actually see rice less than 10 miles from Memphis. This is definitely rice country.
