Milo guards prevent the milo heads from sliding out of the header once it has passed through the cutterbar. After milo is cut, some heads have a tendancy to slide back out of the trough and onto the ground resulting in high yield loss at the header. It is highly recomended to use the guards in row planted milo or broadcast. The guards come in sections of 7 and 8 sickle guard sections with bolt on attachment underneath the existing guard on your header. Richardson guards are one brand which has been around for many years, and work very well after trimming the end wires in order to avoid getting into the sickle. There is also the Britten crop savers which have polyurethane fingers unlike the metal ones on the Richardson. Shield Ag carries the Britten crop savers and Richardson can be found at TSC or Country General.
