2388 8 years down the road if the machine has over 2000 hours wether its 2200 hours or 2400 hours it will be worth the same. The 2388 will be worth alot more down the road.

I would suggest that you match the machine with your row width equipment. I think a 2366 would be good for 6 row equip. and over go with the 2388 for the extra horsepower. JWK

In theory if they do the same work - the 23 will have a higher wear factor per hour - but you will spend less hours doing the same work. Speed will produce more wear - If you keep both machines for many years - you will spend marginally more on the bigger machine keeping it up to specifications. If you trade often the 23 will potentially have more value (if you keep it up to spec's.) If you keep it long enough neither will have much value. (think 403 vs 503) Then there is the value of getting the crop out of the field in a difficult year - what's that worth to youIJ best, bill koob

I am in the process of making the same decision between a 2188 and a 2166. I am running the same heads. I am pretty sure I will go with the 88. Main reason is tough green stem beans. I also believe it will retain more value down the road because of its size. Nothing seems to be getting smaller these days. It is also nice to know that if I want to go to a larger head I won't need to trade combines to do it. Good luck with your decision. bob

Thanks for the input. As most of you, we are leaning toward the 88. As one dealer puts it even the wholesalers will offer $10k more for an 88. lew
