Combines Which is the lifespan of one 9600

I have seen 89' models with over 4500 seperator hours and still going it all depends on what it combined wheat and sunflowers are real easy on a combine will probally last 1_3 to 1_2 again as long if these are the only crops ever combined, and how the owner is with normal maintance ie greasing, oil changes, and replacing normal wear and tear items shuch as belts, bearings, and pullys

I have one 9600 of 1990 with my neighbor, who has 2200 hours of separator and which functions trs well. We want to separate because we have more surface to harvest. A dealer proposes one to me 9600 of 1991 which has 5750 hours engine and 3340 hours of separator, it made wheat, pea, corn. Does Ca frighten me a little, what think youIJ Thank you.

Stay away from it unless they are willing to pay you to take it or you simply want to scrap it for parts. Having previously owned 95xx, 96xx model comnines, they work well up to the 1800-2000 sep. hrs. with minimal to moderate repairs. However, once over that 2000 sep. hour mark, they will being to consume themselves. Metal fatigue, namely with shafts and idlers; multiple bearings will be susceptible to frequent failure (lots of small things will being to occur). You have mentioned a wide variety of crops that have run through the machine. Be very , very caustious when considering a 9600 with this many hours, it may cost a lot of maney to keep up.

I don't get it. You talk about 1800-2200 hrs and then maybe 4500 hrs of life in these machines. My brother has the 1979 IH 1440 that my dad and I bought new and it has 8000 hrs on it. It harvests an average of 1400 acres_year of corn_soybeans and it's going strong. Now metal fatigue or anything like that. Think about it.

It is true, I have also axial 1480 of 1979 who have 4000 hours which does not make any more that peas and a little mas, but it is much more fragile than the 9600 with often of repairs. The 8820, by on your premise, do hours have how much nowIJ

I have a 91 model 9600 with most 9610 updates and it has currently 8500 engine hours and 7200 seperator hours. I do all my own repairs and average 4000 acres per machine in wheat harvest with very little down time maybe a few hours per season per machine.

When I started with my 9600 it had 5000 hrs on it and it didnt scare me a bit, if anyone out there isnt in the mood to change bearings and shafts due to poor servicing, they shouldnt own a combine.Replacing every bearing,shaft and idler is still cheaper than buying another machine with less than 2000 hours.
