Combines Which Massey combine impressed you first and whyIJ

I think that you are right. The 760 was a very impressive machine, especially for the time. Was the largest combine in North America for sure then, and probably the world also. Spent a lot of time running a 77 model 760 hydro that used to be a custom machine. Excellent machine, in my opinion could not then or still be beat in wheat and barley. Too bad other manufacturers have not adopted the triple cascade shoe and the rethresher. It is just a shame that the executives of Massey decided to discontinue massey conventionals. It ruined them for the combine market in the U.S. On a side note, have you found any interesting web sites that feature the older massey combines, ie the 90 MH through the 860IJ If so please respond with them. Just out of idle curosity, how many of you readers still run masseys, which models, and how many hours on them. I always like to hear about someone else running the older masseys. Thank you.

We have two 510's and a 760. I grew up running the 510 and I still believe it was one of the best combines ever made. I can get a cleaner grain sample with it than most of these new machines can get. Once i even combined 150 bushel oats with it picking them up in 24foot windrows, now theres a tough little combine. I'm not sure about the hours on it but she still is a "cherry" outfit.

I run 2 510's, pretty good old machines. one is a '73 and the other is a '75. No hour meter, if they did it would probaly scare me. Both were custom machines the first few years before my uncle bought them. Has anybody had the cylinder speed adjuster apartIJ Been stuck for past couple of years, I plan on trying to fix before harvest this year.
