Combines Which rotor on 1480 will work in rice

There's little doubt that you need the specialty rotor in rice, but it sounds like you are looking at a standard one. You should factor in swapping the rotor before you buy it, you won't be happy with the standard rotor in rice. A Specialty rotor has a bunch of small rub bars, maybe 4" longIJ, in a staggered pattern. For rice, each bar has a "spike" sticking out to make the rotor more aggressive.

I read you conversation on standard rotors in tough conditions. If I buy this machine (assuming it to be a standard rotor) is there a way to use the disrupters on the standard rotor to enable it to cut rice. Maybe the section teeth as well. Have you ever done this for riceIJ

I have no experience with rice, but from everything I've been told, the standard rotor will struggle with it. I wouldn't count on being able to use the standard rotor until someone else gives you an idea of what to expect. If the problem is roping or wrapping in the grate area, anything that helps cut the crop up will probably help.

Thanks, I am looking at buying the machine and maybe swapping for a specialty rice rotor at this time.
