A field looks nicer after being harvested with knife rolls. But the farmer told us that it is a lot harder to work, means the residue plugs the implement more. When the knives are worn off, you can only replace them. Fluted stalk rolls can be hard surfaced and reused. I guess the fluted rolls are cheaper in the first place, too.
