Combines who are you massey owners and whyIJ

You're right! There were alot of a Masseys around here. like you said, they left a bad taste in everybody's mouth. IH and JD grabbed a huge chunk of the market around here when they introduced the 1440 and the 8820 because all of the farmer wanted to get rid of their Masseys. We had a 760. There were a few things I liked about it. The cab was nice and it had good capacity (when it wasn't parked for repairs). Checked out a brand new Massey XP rotary the other day. looked pretty nice but I will stick with what I have. A JD 8820

I would guess AGCO still paints some combines Massey red for marketing reasons. There is still alot of brand loyalty for Massey in some parts of the country, and this is worth alot to a company. There are a lot of aftermarket and salvage parts for the older Massey's, and Agco still supports the older machines. When new combines are hitting $360,000, spare parts and mechanic time start to look like a bargain.

Go read my earlier post on cheap masseys. Then you will see why you might get more for less. I like to go through harvest without changing out half of the bearings.

I sympathize with you ROCKPICKER, there is nothing more frustrating than an unreliable combine. My 860_850 experience is very limited however, as we are only on our second Massey combine. We where running another make before but changed precisely because of frustration over reliablity and indifference on the part of the dealer. I guess we were considered small potatoes as we only change machine every 4-6 years.
