An 850 and a 9120 make a super combination. I ran one for 10 years, and now have a 9120 on a gray cab 750 for a second machine. The 9120 head with a U2 reel cuts as close and feeds better than most newer high priced models of other brands. Good luck.

So do yo use a header tiltIJ We are in rough hills and uneven terrain and it looks like this is a must and were wondering if one should be fabricated or store boughtIJ thanks again.. gs

I live in Iowa where the land is gently rolling. There are lots of 20 and 25ft heads in the area with no tilt. I have a 9510 and use a 925, works great as does the 9120 on the 750. My neighbor has a 670 Challenger with a 30ft head and he does have tilt. I'd say ask your neighbors if they have tilt. Good luck.

the reason I ask is because we are in SW Ia in the bluffs. Our terrace backslopes are steep enough that the upper side of a 15' flex head will have trouble finding the ground if mounted on a level land machine. I have a 9500SH with a 20' which is about all I can use, but most guys with 20' heads and wider here use contour master on a level land machine. You are lucky to live on flat ground. thanks for the re, fun to talk about these things. My buddy with the 850 and I have been kicking around the idea of resurrecting an 860, and repowering it with a 6V92T. I still thinkg that was a great machine that just needed a lot more power to realize it's potential. If I could figure out why the radiator gets chaff in there it would be great. gs

I don't know how you could ever stay in the cab with that "screamin jimmy" right beside you. I thought my 81 860 with the 540 v-8 was too loud. If you want more power, turbo the 540, that would quiet it down and give about 40hp more quite easily. If you want more power than that I would suggest 250hp 3208 V-8 Cat it would fit in a lot nicer not much larger than the 540.
