Combines Why I love My John Deere Combine

I agree, I got a 9500 combine about a year ago and combined wheat, corn, milo and soybeans with it. I have had almost no problems with the actual machine part, did have a big expense with my air conditioning but the machine itself was almost flawless. It is so nice to have something reliable after all that I have been through with other brands.

I had the compressor lock up, redid the whole thing and changed to the new R134. It was pretty expensive, little over a thousand dollars for everything, including labor. I think I know what you are talking about on your system, it seems like it is either too cool and then when you turn it down it takes longer than what I think it should to start cooling again. Mine is a 1991 model. According to the mechanic that does some work for me, JD improved the air conditioning system on the later models, don't know what year this took place. Compared to the trouble I had with my other combine, this is something I can put up with and I doubt I will spend more money to update to the newer system.

I have a '97 model 9500 and it's ac will get so cold I usually have to run the heater even on warm(90d) days to stay comfy. My machine has been awfully good for the last two seasons I have had it too. Really like it in green stemmed beans. GS

my freind has an 850 still, and with good premptive strikes for service it has been very dependable. Parts availability have been the big problem now. gs

From an ex Massey owner, they can be good machines if you overhaul them every year.

I am a former owner and can tell you that not all of the red ones were good. The 550 I had was pretty poor. The 410 I had before it had done several times the work with considerably less discontent. The 850 my freind has seems pretty good to me, I have helped him on it for the last five years, and it really is economical compared to my old 6620. gs

That's because you really don't know the Model 860 as well as you think you do.
