Combines Why is my 1859 head offsetIJ

I believe it is offset for use on 410 or 510 combine to give you more extension of unloading auger past outside of head to reach truck box easier.

its for easier removal of mailboxes when driving down the road.

If the throat is almost completely to the left it could be for the pull type combine. In my area the mennonites are not allowed to have self propelled combines so they are running straight heads on 751, 851 and 852 machines. They are even running stock 1143 cornheads on these combines.

It is a early 1859 head used for a 510 combine.

I've got a 15' 1859 that is that way too. I always thought it was so that the combine's (410) tires remained in the bottom of the row of wide (36" rows) instead of riding on top of the stubble and getting damaged. I've since bought a 18' 1859 and it is the same head with 3' added on the left, it has the throat centered. Mounted on my 410 the combine still runs in the bottoms of the rows when combining soybeans (6_36" rows). I've also got a 4rn (n43 maybe) MF corn head sitting out there that has the throat offset to the left. I've never used it and the only time it was on the combine was when I brought it home (got it with another combine in a package deal). It was a crazy feeling with one row in front of the cab and the rest of the head all on the right side...lol Doc Holiday

Have never seen one of these heads,all that were in the area were center throat heads.have a 15ft.1859 on a410 and a18ft.1859 on a 510,both factory floaters,both diesel machines.also have an offset 43 corn head,works on 410 but 510 is to wide,will knock corn down with ladder side. have old 422 corn head,been shedded,very good,any interestIJIJ to good to junk!

I know what you mean there. I've got a real good 300 w_heads just sitting there too. Don't use it anymore and it is way too good to junk. Too bad there isn't a MF musieum somewhere, I'd be darn near willing to donate the combine. Doc
