We ran an 883 cornhead which is the heaviest of the IH_CIH heads on a 1460 with 28l tires for years and never had a problem. I know the book said a 6 row cornhead is all they were supposed to have. An 8X22 would be similar in width to a 6X30 and I really don't think two gearboxes are going to make or break the tires. Simply stated if it was that critical according to weight I don't think I would walk on the cornhead to clean the windows! Go for the 8X22 and if there is problems make the change.
