Brad we run them with 1 1_2 concaves covered in beans and 1_2 covered in corn. It cleanes up the sample in beans ,not as many pods in green beans, and helps the problem of overloading the left side of the shoe in corn.

They're designed to keep the seperating from happening too soon before the threshing has completed. Depending what crops you run and the conditions you run in will dictate how many you may wish to run. Hard to thresh small grains and seeds, require a longer threshing period before seperation should start. Consider running them if you have too much loss over the chaffer or if you're tailings are overloaded with unthreshed kernels and small pieces of the head with two or more kernels still in it.

Another reason is to avoid having to change concaves between small wire and large wire when going from small seeds to large seeded crops when you have to deal with both crops.

Do you use large or small wire concavesIJ Do you have all the wires installed or not. The thing that bugs me is for us to get a good sample we have to install all of the concave wires for soybeans other wise I get to many pods in the tank. But I have to have everyother one removed for corn other wise rotor loss goes way out of site. (I only remove the wires from the first two concaves) So would I be able to use the cover plates in soybeans instead of installing every wire in the concave, and in turn maintain a good sampleIJ If so how many cover plates does a person installIJ Forgot to add this is a short shoe 1680, large wire concave, keystock grates, standard rotor. thanx for any help Brad NC.
