Combines wide spaced concaves

You will need wide spaced concaves for barley or you will damage the barley and throw a lot over the back end. Wide space will get the barley out of the concave quicker. Our 2188 will do 5 mph in 30' of 80 bushel barley and not throw any over with wide space. A neighbor with narrow space on a 1680 had to run at 3 mph in the same crop and he had a lot of barley going over. If you buy a used set make sure they are not bent.

Thanks for the info. Rod. That is what we were thinking. It doesnt. look like a whole lot of barley is going to make it through the small wire concaves. Our barley yields are from 60 to 80 depending on the year and this years crop appears to be a good one. Our last week of weather has been nothing short of tropical and disease is on the minds of alot of people. After a few years of seeing what scab can do it is hard to watch such a nice stand when you know what is happening. And even harder to make the decision wether to put 15$ worth of fungicide on 2.80 wheat. Dont get me wrong I am not complaining I know it could be 100 above and no rain in sight so we consider ourselves lucky so far. We will talk to you later
