Sorry for the delay but thought some one that dose bean may respond, I have used one for over 20 years with no problem with wrapping, before that had bat reel, loss of problems. The current model U II reel with teardrop bat has a lot of improvements over the old one with rectangle bat. Recently replace all of the bearing on all bat with new and very much improve ones. It seem that many brand Xs are offering the U II reel now. Here is a link to universal harvester web site. Good lock Swtvid

thanks for the reply, and the link. Apparantly, no one on here cuts beans with a UII reel anymore. GS

I've used a UII for better than twenty years. I guess I had forgotten reel wrap was a problem, as the UII has never wrapped, even in green stem beans. Hope to pick up my new head today - ordered with a UII again.

Thanks for the comment, Sorehands. My hands are sore too, right now from two days ago when I had to pull out green stemmed beans from my old 216 reel. My neighbor has a newer 915 deere with the plastic reel and it does it too. GS

That's where my user name came from. Seems like every harvest season my hands get so beat up from slipped wrenches, working in tight places, and pulling bean stems from plugs here and there. Even the Masseys need a little help now and then . Put on a UII and you will eliminate one of your problems. I just saw my new header yesterday, and noticed the aluminum bats were now painted flat black. The old shiny aluminum is pretty, but I can see that the new black paint will reduce some of the flash and glare.

Wonder how long the black paint will stayIJ Would help in the sun to stop the glint.

Hi brad.. I am very late on this, so if you read this, I apologise for not checking this out. Actually, I might be interested in your reels..I do have a neighbor that is getting out of the masseys and he has several with uII's and these might be easier for me to haul home and they have almost no value either. I just think I need to do something different with this thing, and it looks like the flip-over design is better. I also think I might be able to fabricate my own out of what I have. Thanks... GS
