Combines wind Turbine

We here in SW Minnesota are in the midst of a 137 wind turbine (1.5 MW each) wind turbine development. This development offers up front lump sum payment on a per acre basis or revenue sharing per turbine based on project average production. As erection is just underway we really don't know how quiet they will actually be. With a variety of turbines in the area, a difference in noise levels is obvious. GE turbines are supposedly quiet as compared to others in the industry. We will know more when the wheels actually start turning later this year.

Thanks, interesting info. The ones used here are Vestas models as well as some siemens models, both from Denmark. This is a good wind area, on the east shore of lake Huron. If all plans in the works get approved, there will be several hundred in a 50 by 5 mile stretch along the shoreline. There has been some complaints about noise and stray voltage, but the provincial standards here are quite stringent---440 yards from a residence, 660 yards from an area zoned residential, no more than 40 decibels at the 440 yards, plus an array of environmental and archeological regulations to adhere to. The proposed site of 69 2.3 MW turbines is a $300 million priject that will add much needed money to the township in taxes plus more jobs. The visual impact----well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Ben.
