measure the size of the pulley. If you need faster, get the big diameter one. I have a rigid and kept losing the wobble box. I put a smaller pulley in back and slowed the wobble box, but found the box was going down due to the S pulleys with shock absorber on it. The bushing in back was worn and allowed a lot of wobble taking the wobble box bearings down. Replaced bushing and base and now have no problems. Good luck.

The 7.5" pulley is standard on a flex head. The 9+" is standard on rigid headers. There are a couple of things you can do. You can speed up your sickle with a different pulley but you might have more vibration problems as the rigid heads have a flywheel and a weighted wobble box to smooth out the extra speed. The 2nd thing is the standard sickle is limited on speed. The SCH can gain you at least a mph. I wouldn't speed it up with the variable speed as it is not precise and bad things can happen. Kelly

By S pulleys with shock absorber on it are you talking about the pulley that is mounted on the wobble boxIJ Thanks.

It is the double pulley idler behind the wobble box. It has the shock on it and has a rubber absorber at the top. The unit look good , but take the tension off it and it was worn so the idler vibrated a lot. You have to put a new bushing and bushing base to make it right. Hope this explains it.

G'Day pack8fan I can HIGHlY recommend the wobble box flywheel! Can you tell us if your little shock on the left hand end of your front is moving just a litttle bit or a lotIJ Can you fry eggs on that shockIJ If you can you need to install a wobble box fly wheel as this will help heaps with vibration!! Also there kit out by AGCO for the flex 500 fronts that replaces the Gal sheeting along the back of the front, this helps as well in stiffing up the whole front so as to stop it flexing along the rear main frame. Which helps in letting the AHHC do it's thing a lot better, therefore cutting a lot better. Have a look at the hyper web site and look at heddys hyper mods as this should help explain. Regards Rolf

Thanks for the explanation. This is my 8th season on the 525 and I havent done any work on the wobble box or drive so I am not very familiar with it yet. When and if something needs repair I will get a quick education.

i have a 324 that i installed the sch on it originally had the quick cut 1.5" sections had to put the 8" pully on to get over 3mph the parts book says that the small diameter pulley is standard with the quick cut the 8" is standard with the 3" sections and the big one is optional for sickle speed up i put the 8" on and am thinking of putting the larger one on as i can only get 4.2-5.0 mph even with the sch sickel most times i see 4.3mph unless its a fine stemmed bean august wieser rosholt, sd

Would you not be scared to put the big pulley on for fear of damaging the wobble box itselfIJ I have ordered the 8.3" pulley but maybe I should go to the larger one myself. Still not sure.

Venturis, I have two flex heads [800 and series 3 ] with the SCH cutting system which I love but the secret to getting a clean cut at 6.5 MPH is the knife has to run at 530 strokes per min which means you need a drive pulley almost 9 inches in diameter which gleaner offered on the series 3 header and yes it will fit on the 800 flex head.
