Combines wobble box grief

I will second the comments on cleaning the sickle if you are cutting any green sappy stalks. The sap can cause the sickle to bind up and take a lot of power to move back and forth which is going to cause sickle breaking and drive problems. Rolf, our lentils in Idaho are just getting a good start now. You must really have a long season.

Are you replacing the wobbel box, or rebuilding it every yearIJ Over greasing a wob box can be just as bad as not greasing... If you are rebuilding every year, and are not over greasing, you may want to purchase a new box. could be evil demons have taken over your box...(something not obvious is wrong) If you are purchasing a new box every year and still knocking then out.. you have something wrong els where,, Have you locked out your varible speed header driveIJ Running it to fast is verry bad.. you can slow the header down even more by changin the drive pulley,, i dont have the part number with now but i could get it if you want to try this....

Has anyone used the german knife drive ( SCI in the corn belt sells them) instead of the Gleaner wobble boxIJ My wobble box has a life of around 400 hours. A new one costs $1350. That' $3_ hour use - very expensive. I grease it daily if not a little more on long days. We run clean wheat, not the green stuff you guys talked about. How long does your wobble box lastIJ The old bell crank lasted forever, but it doesn't cut fast enough for the R62 in heavy wheat.
