Yes, I agree, what's the matter with wood blocks, they have worked well for decades. I know loewen has been supplying them for years, so you could get them there or from one of their dealers.
I have to admit im not a Deere guy so im not familar with them, however a neighbour of ours was discussing this very issue the other day. However he was considering replacing his current wood blocks with bearings on his 9500. He is replacing the woodblocks at least every season sometimes once during the season as well. Not sure the reason for the extra wear,, conditions perhapsIJ
I am wondering if your neighbor is putting grease in those wood blocks when he is replacing them.If they are filled and seasoned with grease they should last for years.
I have heard that Deere had to quit making them because the chemical they used in treating the wood was harmful to the environment. Could be just a rumor.
